My friend L asked me this morning if my girls read my blog. My answer was, "Mailan does and Clara will". What I meant by that is, Mai has access to it and can read it is she wants. Clara probably didn't know I had one, but I have always been very honest* with my girls. It wasn't too long after the brief exchange with L that the topic of my blog came up and Clara asked in a puzzled tone, "your blog? Like a YouTube or IGTV thing"? Joe responded with, "No, Beans, your mama writes, she doesn't Vlog".
I had to interject, "That's coming".
Clara then insisted I lead her to my blog. By insisted I mean, she went right back to her Roblox game and I made her go to this site. When she got here, though, she read, "She Wears Pants". Just those three words got her to giggling and then in typical Clara fashion she said it five different ways and then explained why GiGi must have worn pants before she even read the actual post.
The picture below is of Clara leaning in to read more. She didn't read just to figure out why Doris/Gigi wore pants, but also, to read what her mom was writing. I wish I could tell you she was hooked on my blog and became the second subscriber. No, she finished that one post and went back to what she originally had going on, but that was enough.
I realized in those moments, if I am not telling my children about my grandmother, my mother, my bonus (step) parents, my siblings, my failures, my successes, my uncles, my cousins, my fears, my dreams, my friends, my former friends, my aunts, my pets, my rocks, my teachers, my (insert word here)..... my father, and my Father, who will? I cannot be waiting around to find out. Do my daughters read my blog? They do now.
